THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST REVELATION CHAPTER 15 INTRODUCTION TO THE “BOWLS OF WRATH” The book of Revelation “CENTERS” Around: “THE BIG THREE” 1. The 7 Seals – Chapters 6-7 2. The 7 Trumpets – Chapters 8-14 3. The 7 Bowls of Wrath – Chapters 15-19 These cover a total of FOURTEEN CHAPTERS, out of TWENTY TWO! OVER- ONE HALF of the book of Revelation! 5 Chapters BEFORE the “Big Three” (Chapters 1-5) 3 Chapters AFTER the “Big Three” (Chapters 20-22) THESE CHAPTERS LITERALLY ARE THE HEART OF REVELATION!
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST REVELATION CHAPTER 15 INTRODUCTION TO THE “BOWLS OF WRATH” I believe that it is ESSENTIAL to the proper interpretation of Revelation to understand the “order” and “flow” of these central chapters. Chapters 6-7 – 7 SEALS – Revelation (Matt. 24) Rapture, Wrath. Chapters 8-11 – The 7 TRUMPETS – Back up to a more focused Revelation (Fig Tree Generation), Rapture, Wrath. Chapters 12-14 – “A Great and Wondrous Sign” – an even MORE Focused Revelation, Rapture and Wrath. (The focus is on the last 7 years, Anti-Christ, etc.)
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST REVELATION CHAPTER 15 Chapter 15 is the INTRODUCTION to Chapters 16-19 Chapter 16 – THE 7 BOWLS of WRATH – spoken of in “General Revelation” Chapters 17 – 18 – Back up and more focused on the (The Great Prostitute or The Great City or “Babylon”) and her SPECIFIC punishment under the Wrath of God! Chapter 19 – Even MORE FOCUSED look at - God’s people protected, raptured and worshipping during the WRATH DAYS, A FOCUSED DEFINITION of Bowl number 6 – Armageddon NOTE THE PATTERN OF INTERPRETATION: General Revelation, Then a backing up and a more “focused revelation” and … an assurance that God’s People are protected and cared for! READ CHAPTER 15
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST Verse 1. The 7LASTplagues… This is where much of the confusion comes in regarding the possibility that the Trumpet days are a part of “God’s Wrath” and occur BEFORE the rapture. As we have seen…they are NOT. The Trumpets speak to the days just BEFORE the rapture and in fact, the 7th Trumpet IS THE RAPTURE! (I Corin. 15:51ff, Rev. 10:7) Are PLAGUES the same as WRATH? “PLAGUES” – Greek =“pleegais” (PLAY – GASE) – “a wound, or a calamity or terrible thing”. – DOES NOT MEAN SPECIFICALLY – “wrath – or God’s punishment”. The English word – PLAGUE – is simply the English pronunciation of the Greek word – pleegais. We equate the word plague with “punishment” or WRATH…but they are NOT the same! For EXAMPLE - The10 “Plagues” of EYGPT – which were specifically GOD’S WRATH on the unbelieving world. Heb –Nagaph (naw-gawf) (it means – to smite “KJV” or to inflict punishment upon)
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST “I saw…seven angels with seven more “terrible things or calamities” – (to come upon the earth) But…they are the LAST, (calamities) because with THESE (calamities) – is fulfilled God’s promised WRATH! (punishment)”
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST Verse 2: 1. Sea of Glass mixed with fire… RememberChapter FOUR?– The Throne Room of God! - flashes of lightning, 7 blazing lamps around a Sea of Glass… 2. Standing beside the Sea – The victorious Saints! – Especially over the “mark” (Indicating again…there are Christians on earth when the antichrist appears.) 3. SANG THE SONG OF MOSES - EXODUS CHAPTER 15: 1-18 And… THE SONG OF THE LAMB - Here… Verse 3 and 4 Songs of Praise and Worship celebrating Deliverance!
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST VERSES 5-8 Rev 15: 5-8 5 After this I looked and in heaven the temple, that is, the tabernacle of the Testimony, was opened. 6 Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues (calamities or terrible things). They were dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes around their chests. 7 Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath (punishment) of God, who lives for ever and ever. 8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed. THERE WOULD BE NO INTERCESSION!
