Background to Industry Engagement Program Industry Engagement Program (IEP) • World Bank Procurement Framework committed to establish an Industry Engagement Program (IEP) to improve procurement outcomes in targeted sectors • IEP designed to work closely with sector experts (both client and supply side) to identify and fix recurring procurement problems in World Bank financed projects • Overall objective is to achieve improved procurement and development outcomes
IEP objectives Key objectives • Identify and fix recurring procurement problems that get in the way of effective project delivery • Reduce project implementation time • Motivate better companies to bid • Eliminate/reduce failed bid processes • Improve competition • Encourage supplier innovation in delivering project solutions
