  1. FY19 Capital Project Proposal Main Library Deck Renovation - Event Space and Professional Kitchen Requested Funds: $379,000

Innovative Spaces and Services • Underutilized: 4,625 SF of potential revenue generating event space • Original design intended to make this an event space • Market suggests $1,500 - $2,500 per night rental fee • Highlight the Innovation District: great view of historic part of downtown Chattanooga and renovated Miller Park • All-Weather Equipped: proposed renovations include anchors to erect sturdy tenting • Includes adapting existing kitchen to catering kitchen.

Innovative Spaces and Services “Based on our review of the original structural drawings dated December 6th, 1974 the 3rd floor outdoor area appears as though it was designed to support a live load of 125 pounds per square foot (PSF). Typically, an occupiable roof assembly area is considered to need to support 100 PSF as per the 2012 International Building Code (IBC)” “Allowing for an occupiable roof assembly area load of 100 PSF this would allow for some additional weight to be added for decking and possibly a stage. “ - Library Deck Renovation Feasibility Study

Innovative Spaces and Services • Renovation includes: • Demolition of existing two roofs • New, modern roof installation, proper drainage, etc. • Plaza pavers for walking surface • Kitchen countertop and installation • Kitchen refrigerator system and installation • Kitchen plumbing renovation • Additional electrical infrastructure installed for kitchen and deck area
