Buts its not very green. • Railways is the largest consumer of diesel. • Railways is the largest consumer of electricity at 13.8 billion kWhr (accounts to 2 to 2.5% of total energy consumption of the country) in the year 2013 – 2014 with an annual increase of 5% per year.
