  2. A virtual desktop to support the mobile elected representative(eRepresentative) Objective Make legislative services more effective providing a secure and mobile working enivonment for elected representatives.

A virtual desktop to support the mobile elected representative eRepresentative desktop must support MPs to: • Obtain personalised, specific, filtered data ‘anywhere, any place and any time’; • Collaborate with each other securely and conveniently; • Influence the legislative process in a timely convenient and secure manner.

  4. eRrepresentativeprovide • Inter-assembly search and retrieval • Track committee legislative actions • Committee events notification • Secure discussion space • Remote e-polling for committees • E-voting.

A virtual desktop to support the mobile elected representative The reasons to take part in e-Representative: • There is a need for collaborative tool for committeemembersto share views on issues from in-personcommittee meetings; • There is a need to extend mobile platform for MPs; • There is a need to increase MPs’ opportunities to consider matters related to draft proposals in other Parliaments’ experiences.

  9. A virtual desktop to support the mobile elected representative IntendedCommittee • eRepresentative was presented to the Committee of the Development of Information Society; • Solid decision to take part in. • User panel: 7 MPs; 3 Advisers; ~3 observers (ITTD). Other interested in MPs.

  11. Information System of the Seimas + eRepresentative What was done? • Software tools for exchanging data between the Seimas Legal Acts database and the eRepresentative repository were designed.

  12. Information System of the Seimas  eRepresentative Available content: • Laws; • Decisions. Commitee’s documents: • Agendas; • Minutes; • Other working documents.

  13. A virtual desktop to support the mobile elected representative • May, 2007 – alfa version was released. • November, 2007 – beta version expected.

Expectations of eRepresentative... • Committee Event Notification and Committee Workspace would enable committee members to be better prepared for meetings by increasing opportunities to share and consider amendments and their colleagues’ positions on related issues. • Inter-parliamentary search agent increases representatives’ opportunities to consider matters related to draft proposals, drawing on other parliaments’ experiences.
