  2. Location On U.S. Map • Colonial South Carolina was located on latitude North 79 and longitude West 93. South Carolina was one of the Southern Colonies.

  4. The Founding of South Carolina • South Carolina was founded in 1663 by 8 nobles with a royal charter from King Charles II.

  5. South Carolina’s Namesake • South Carolina is called South Carolina for Carolus, which is Latin for Charles, thus naming the colony after King Charles II.
