Classroom Management • Classroom Community • Focus on positive behavior • Reward through sincere praise and recognition • When a student chooses to act inappropriately, I will talk to them and help redirect their actions.
Classroom Management:Behavior Cards • Use nice manners. • Be prepared. • Try your best. When a student chooses not to follow the rules, they will flip a card: • Green: Great Behavior • Blue: Warning • Yellow: Walk 10 min. at recess • Orange: No recess • Red: Office referral • A Behavior Note will be sent home each afternoon that your child flips a card. This needs to be signed and returned the following school day.

Snacks • We have a late lunch, so students can bring a snack to eat during Marathon Club. • Please make sure that it is individually wrapped and something that they can easily eat while walking laps.
Snazzy Snacks • Snazzy Snacks are snacks that we will create by following recipe instructions during our writing block. • Handwriting skills • Following multi-step directions
Birthdays • You are more than welcome to come eat lunch with your child on his/her birthday! If you can’t make it and would like to send in a treat, please make sure that it is precut. We have 20 students in our class.
Homework • Homework packet sent home on Mondays in folder • Includes spelling, math, and 20 minutes of reading each night • Packet should be returned on Fridays in folder
Grading • Report Cards each quarter • Interim Progress Reports (mid-quarter) • A = 100 - 93 (excellent work) • B = 92 - 85 (very good work) • C = 84 - 77 (average work) • D = 76 - 70 (poor work) • U = 69 – 61 (unsatisfactory work)
Grading • Points will be taken off grades for: missing capitals (-1 point), incorrect or no punctuation (-1 point), and misspelled words/Word Wall Words (-1 point). Half credit will be granted for incomplete sentences. This is a curriculum-wide policy.
