  2. Your Role: Prosecutor(Seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth) Key Notes: Your job is to convince the jury of your peers that the Earth has seasons because the Earth’s axis has a tilt of 23.5 degrees making the sunlight more direct on one hemisphere than another.

  3. Your Role: Defense(Seasons are caused by how close the Earth is to the sun) Key Notes: Your job is to convince the jury of your peers that the Earth has seasons because the Earth is closer to the sun in summer and further away in winter.

  4. Your Role: Expert Witness 1(Seasons in U.S. and Australia) In the U.S. In Australia Key Notes: When it is winter in the U.S. it is summer in Australia and vice versa.

  5. Your Role: Expert Witness 2(Measured distance to sun) Key Notes: The closest we get to the sun (called perihelion) is around January 4th. The furthest we get from the sun (called aphelion) is around July 4th (152.1 million km). Our average distance (149.6 million km) happens near April 3rd and October 5th.
