CSI: Cougar Success Institute Homework Recovery Time • Conducted during school hours to ensure students complete missing assignments after in-class opportunities have been exhausted. • Students removed from their exploratory class.
Mobile Computing Device • Lexington School District One will provide your child with an iPad next school year. • This will support your child’s learning and prepare them for higher education opportunities and careers.
WEB: Where Everybody Belongs WEB is a Powerful Student Mentoring Program • 8th Graders are carefully selected to serve as “WEB Leaders” to incoming 6th Graders. • WEB Leaders invite the 6th Graders to a powerful Orientation (Cougar Camp). • Connections are then supported throughout the year between WEB Leaders and 6th Graders.
ABC: Arts in Basic Curriculum PHMS was awarded a grant to become an ABC school site. • Make the arts an integral part of the basic curriculum and daily classroom instruction. • Expose fine arts students to artists in residence. • Help our students more deeply explore their creativity and critical thinking.

Core Classes Students take 5 core classes – 52 minutes • Academic Classes • ELA • Math • Science • Social Studies • World Languages • (Will choose 1 language for the year) • French • German • Latin • Spanish • Spanish Partial-Immersion Program • Spanish Class (Core Class) • Passport Class – Offered as an early bird or exploratory class.(Units involving Social Studies, geography, cuisine, history, technology, and culture targeting a Spanish Speaking country.)
Exploratory Classes Students take 2 exploratory classes a semester Required Classes: PE/Health or Dance/Health • Semester Classes • Adventure Education • Art • Chorus • Creative Writing • Digital Literacy • Drama • iCivics • STEM Academy • Year-Long Classes • Band • Orchestra • Students who need a support class (i.e., RtI ELA/Math or Resource) will lose an exploratory class.

End of School Procedures Car Riders • School ends at 3:30 • 6th Graders: Exit at the end of the 6th gr. hall • Face forward and look for your ride • Remember, No drop-off or pick-up behind the school or at PHES. Bus Riders • Exit through the double doors behind the stage in the commons area.
