This session at the National Association of Regional Councils 2019 Annual Conference will discuss the federal disaster recovery framework and the roles and responsibilities of regional councils, districts, and commissions in disaster response and recovery. It will explore the whole-of-community approach to recovery, pre- and post-disaster planning, and implementation, as well as outcome-based recovery goals, objectives, and strategies. The session will highlight the significant partnership opportunities for regional council stakeholders, including chief elected and administrative officials, local government, and private industry representatives. It will also cover the core capabilities held by regional councils, such as grants management, economic (re)development planning, and hazard mitigation. The session will provide insights into the inter-agency recovery coordination in Nebraska and the state's recovery support strategy, including various federal recovery support functions. The session will conclude with a Q&A session with the federal and state disaster recovery coordinators.
