  2. Open your image in PhotoShop.Go to ‘Image’ > ‘Adjustments’ > ‘HDR toning’

  3. Pull the handles around until you’re happy with the result.

  5. Here are a few good examples…

  6. Don’t take it too far though – unless you want a ‘painterly’ effect. Original HDR toned HDR toned more

  7. A more subtle and more realistic effect can be obtained in other ways… like other Photoshop techniques… HDR toned Original Contrast, sharpened and saturated

  8. Please note: HDR toning is only possible with PhotoShop CS5. See how to achieve the same effect here… Go to ‘Image’ > ‘Adjustments’ > ‘Brightness/contrast’

  9. Increase the contrast Increase the contrast

  10. Go to ‘Filter’ > ‘Sharpen’ > ‘Unsharp mask’

  11. Adjust the sharpness

  12. Go to ‘Image’ > ‘Adjustments’ > ‘Hue/saturation’

  13. Adjust the saturation

  14. Compare the results for yourself… Original HDR toned Contrast, sharpened and saturated
