2. What Is The Michigan QSO Party? An on-the-air operating event to allow stations outside the state of Michigan to make contact with as many Michigan stations as possible. Non-Michigan stations may work only Michigan stations, while Michigan stations may contact anyone.

3. What Is The Operating Objective In The Michigan QSO Party? For Michigan stations, it is to work as many stations as possible in as many states, provinces, and Michigan counties as possible.

4. Results from the 2013 Michigan QSO Party • 299 entries received, up 69% since 2004 • Over 44,000 QSOs reported • Over 3,200 different stations involved • All 83 MI counties were active Continuation of Activity Growth In Recent Years

7. What Are The Entry Categories In The Michigan QSO Party? • Michigan Single Operator • QRP (5 watts or less) • Low Power (100W or less) • High Power (Over 100W) • Separate plaques are awarded for each single operator category

8. What Are The Entry Categories In The Michigan QSO Party? • Michigan Multi-Operator • Single Transmitter • Multiple Transmitters • Separate plaques are awarded for each multi-operator category

What Are The Entry Categories In The Michigan QSO Party? • Michigan Mobile • Solo Operator – One operator alone • Multi-Operator – More than one op • Only one transmitter, 100W or less • Can operate from multiple counties, starting over from each one, with all counties totaled as one entry • Separate plaques are awarded for each mobile category

10. What Is The Exchange In The Michigan QSO Party? • Michigan stations send a sequential serial number and county • Non-Michigan stations send a sequential serial number and their state or province • Non-W/VE stations send a sequential serial number and “DX”

11. How Is The Score Calculated In The Michigan QSO Party? • Each non-duplicate CW QSO is worth two points • Each non-duplicate SSB QSO is worth one point

How Is The Score Calculated In The Michigan QSO Party? • Multipliers (counted once per mode): • For Michigan Stations: • 49 US States (excludes Michigan) • 13 Canadian Provinces • 83 Michigan Counties • “DX” for a non-W/VE station • For non-Michigan Stations (W/VE or DX): • 83 Michigan Counties

13. How Is The Score Calculated In The Michigan QSO Party? Fixed Stations The total number of QSO points is multiplied by the number of multipliers worked on each mode (phone and CW)

19. Michigan QSO Party Certificate Program • Michigan: • Certificate to the top single operator entry in each county making at least 50 QSOs. • Certificates to the top three solo and multi-op mobile entries. • Certificates to the top three limited and un-limited multi-op entries. • Out-state: • Certificate to the top entry from each state or province making at least 25 QSOs.

20. Michigan Club Competition Scores attributed to any Michigan amateur radio club will be credited towards that club. All Michigan clubs with at least two credited scores will be included in an overall ranking of those scores with a certificate awarded to the club with the highest score (both in-state and out-of-state). BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR CLUB NAME IN YOUR ELECTRONIC ENTRY FILE OR ON THE SUMMARY SHEET WITH YOUR ENTRY.

21. Michigan QSO Party Tips To Do Well and Have Fun • A big station is not necessary to do well. Most single-op stations are using simple antennas. • Most activity is on 40M during daylight and 80M during darkness. • Operate both CW and SSB to maximize QSOs and the all-important multipliers. • Watch for the mobiles, who can be re-worked when they change counties.
