Implies information handover The POCMAP (Point-of-care Multi-Aware Clinical Pilot) Project Goal: Develop information technology that makes optimal use of the available inter- action devices and knowledge about the care situation to give cooperating clinicians in the ward access to the most relevant clinical information and functionality at each point and situation of care
’Micro-Handover’ Task- or event-specific handover of information and responsibility, e.g. as part of a patient care process within a hospital ward Examples from field study (Dept. of Cardiology, 2005): “[ChiefPhysician9] must order INR for tomorrow to follow up; however, the nurse often takes care of this without any further notice from the physician”. “[ChiefPhysician9] instructs nurse to contact physician on-call to switch drug if problems occur during the night.” Alternative solution: Message to Physician on-call: Remember to check Patient43 for drug response at 0200 hours.
The POCMAP (Point-of-care Multi-Aware Clinical Pilot) Project Explore, construct and evaluate user interfaces to clinical information • flexible and exchangeable views of task specific information • flexible session handling • efficient navigation through system-awareness of context, role, situation and care plans
Field studies Surveys and interviews Drama and design workshops Exploratory prototyping Usability testing in full-scale laboratory Project Research Methods
