  3. Family • Sarah married her husband Rick, who joined the navy during World War Two, and had four sons. Sarah was born in Riverview Illinois, and was part of a large family, where she remembered time was tough. Her family barely made enough to feed all the children when great depression hit.

  4. Occupation As women through out the world gained more equality during/after the World Wars, Sarah too, was one of these women who took opportunity of this and entered the work force. Where she worked as a Key Puncher during early 1950s. *note: Key Punch---A keyboard machine that is used to punch holes in cards or tapes for data-processing systems..

  5. Lifestyle

  6. Although standards of women became less rigid comparing to previous decades, Sarah remembered the massive amount of times her mother and herself would spend in the kitchen and inside of the house doing housing keeping, and looking after the children. *this was before refrigerators were affordable, and they still had ice box in attempt to keep certain foods fresh. 7. During the early years of her life, she remembered the dominant feminine role of her mother, and the expectations for her as a daughter. Where when the family wasn’t making enough for the family, she almost dropped out of high school as her brothers proceed on with their education.

  8. Although not an activist herself, but she remembers the second wave of the feminist movement, which stressed equality in culture as well as attempts to end discrimination in work.
