College App Fee Waivers • You’re eligible if: • Participate in free/reduced lunch program • Annual family income falls within Income Eligibility Guidelines • Enrolled in federal, state, or local programs that aid low-income families • Your family receives public assistance • You live in federally subsidized housing or foster home, or are homeless • You are a ward of the state or an orphan • Note: If you used SAT waiver last year, you are eligible to receive up to 4 college app fee waivers • Common App • You will be asked on the application whether your financial circumstances qualify you for a fee waiver • Counselor has to verify your eligibility on Naviance

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that affords parents the right to have access to their children’s education records, have the records amended, and have some control over the disclosure of personally identifiable information from the education records.  When a student turns 18 years old, or enters a postsecondary institution at any age, the rights under FERPA transfer from the parents to the student. Personal Statement Common App- 7 prompts (650-word maximum) • Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
