  2. By ‘The Commands of Christ’ we mean, any directive, or any imperative statements made by Christ which still pertain to the believer today.

  8. Love your neighbor as yourself & Do unto others as you would have them do.

  9. What was said?

  10. Love your neighbor as yourself. Matt 22:39

  11. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and with all your mind... Luke 10:27

  12. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27

  13. Love your neighbor as yourself.There is no commandment greater than these. Mark 12:31

  14. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.John 13:34

  15. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.John 13:35

  16. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.John 15:12

  17. Do to others as you would have them do to you.Luke 6:31

  18. So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you…Matt 7:12

  19. …for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.Matt 7:12

  21. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against any of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. Lev 19:18

  22. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another.Rom 12:10

  23. Be indebted to no one, except to one another in love, for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law.Rom 13:8

  24. The entire Law is fulfilled in a single decree: "Love your neighbor as yourself."Gal 5:14

  25. …have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart.1 Pet 1:22

  26. What does it mean?

  27. In order to have a growing understanding of what it means to Love our neighbor…

  28. We must unpack three of the clues in the previous verses…

  29. Clue #1

  30. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27

  31. We should love & care for others in the same way that we love & care for ourselves.

  32. Clue #2

  33. So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you…Matt 7:12

  34. We should love & care for others in the same way that we would want them to love & care for us.

  35. Clue #3

  36. You must love one another, as I have loved you.John 13:34

  37. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.John 15:12

  38. We should love & care for others in the same way that Jesus has loved & cared for us.

  39. Let’s examine each of those for a moment.

  40. 1. We should love & care for others in the same way that we love & care for ourselves.

  41. In what manner do we love ourselves?

  42. We seek to improve our situation or enhance our lives (seek our best interest) at every turn.

  43. To love our neighbor means that: We seek to improve their situation at every turn. We discover ways to enhance their lives.

  44. b. We assume the best of ourselves and give ourselves the benefitof the doubt. We’re quick to forgive our faults.

  45. To love our neighbor means that: We assume the best of them, we give them the benefit of the doubt, we presume innocents until proven guilty. We do not rush to judgment.

  46. c. We see our life through our eyes. We see our life through the lens of everything that we want and that worries us.

  47. To love our neighbor means that: We routinely put ourselves in their shoes, we attempt to see life through their eyes. We attempt to really understand how they think.

  48. 2. We should love & care for others in the same way that we would want them to love & care for us.

  49. In what manner do we wish that others would love & care for us?
