2. What is FIMRC? • FIMRC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, established in 2002. • Since its inception, FIMRC has expanded to a network of 80 core members in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., as well as an estimated 4,000 international volunteers. c

3. What is FIMRC? • Our Vision • A world in which all children have an equal opportunity to benefit from modern medicine • Our Mission • To provide access to medical care for the millions of underprivileged and medically underserved children around the world

Our Approach • FIMRC works to establish clinics in underserved communities around the world. • FIMRC staffs each clinic with local medical professionals, as well as representatives from the U.S. headquarters. • FIMRC has established partnerships with numerous global health organizations. • Clinic projects are funded by private donors, grants, and program donations from the Global Health Volunteer Program.

5. Chaptership • Chapters in every region of the US, as well as internationally, help FIMRC to raise funds and supplies to support its clinics. • Chapters have formed at colleges, universities, and medical schools, as well as in communities and professional circles. All are welcome!

6. Chaptership Goals • Raise funds to support FIMRC’s projects; • Serve locally and promote children’s health in their own communities; • Organize group volunteer missions to FIMRC’s clinics; • Develop partnerships with other student groups to raise funds and recruit volunteers.

7. Projects • FIMRC offers missions to the following sites: • Costa Rica • El Salvador • India • Nicaragua • Peru • Uganda • Each project strives to respect and meet the unique needs of the community it serves.

8. Project Alajuelita, Costa Rica • Established in 2004 as FIMRC’s first clinic; • Serves three underserved communities: Tejarcillos, Jasmín (“Jasmine”) and Los Pinos (“The Pines”); • Serves 12,500 medically uninsured Nicaraguan refugees and impoverished Costa Rican children and families.

9. Project Alajuelita, Costa Rica • The needs of Alajuelita are complicated by the social issues of an impoverished community: • A lack of clean water and sanitation facilities; • Absent or overcrowded schools; • Underemployment.

Project Alajuelita, Costa Rica • Provides a reliable full-time clinic staff and numerous volunteers; • Offers health services and health education workshops to children in need; • Introduced nutritional programs; • Created an extensive medical charting system; • Implements biannual child wellness check-ups for the entire community.

11. Project Las Delicias, El Salvador • An underserved community of approximately 5000 people; • Launch site for FIMRC’s Micro-Health Insurance Program; • Common illnesses in the community: • Malnutrition, stages 1 and 2 • Gastroenteritis • Influenza • Malaria • Measles

12. Project Kodaikanal, India • Supports a number of créches by providing better health services and educational opportunities; • Medical checkups are an integral part of FIMRC’s work; • Raises awareness through weekly Health Education sessions on issues such as HIV/AIDS transmission and prenatal care.

13. Project Limon, Nicaragua • Established in partnership with the Roberto Clemente Rancho Santana medical clinic; • Located in coastal Western Nicaragua; • Clinic staff of 9 serves over 10,000 patients per year; • Provides primary medical care to children from Limon and 41 surrounding communities.

Project Peru • FIMRC provides support to public hospitals in three diverse locations in Peru: • Project Peru-Trujillo, located in a coastal city; • Project Peru-Agallpampa, located in a rural, mountainous region; • Project Peru-Huancayo, located in an urban center with a large indigenous population.

15. Project Bumwalukani, Uganda • Established in partnership with the • Arlington Academy of Hope; • Founded in September 2006; • Provides direct healthcare to a community of approximately 10,000 in rural Uganda; • Located on a mountainside about 30 miles from the town of Mbale.

Project Bumwalukani, Uganda • Established as the only health facility in the village of Bumwalukani; • Serves up to 120 patients per day; • Provides comprehensive preventative health education for children at an adjoining school; • Provides health coverage to targeted families through FIMRC’s groundbreaking Micro Health Insurance Program; • Provides care to adults as well as children. c
