Worldreader • Worldreader is a not for profit organisation that promotes reading, right across the developing world • We are building a sustainable model so that wherever you can get a phone call, you can get a book. • We use simple, affordable and accessible technology and up to now we work on two platforms: • E-readers – great reading experience, low penetration (but growing) • Feature phones – good reading experience, enormous penetration (and growing) • Both of the Worldreader reading platforms function well in areas where connectivity is basic (2G or EDGE) thereby impacting the largest group of persons in-need on the planet. This is transformational

Results – e-readersAfter 1 year: Improvements in students’ English skills • Dramatically increased access to books • Pre: 3.6 books/student in home • Post: 107 books/student • “Reading is the single most critical skill in early education. Children without reading skills are on a lifetime trajectory of limited opportunity” • - USAID Primary school students in Ghana tested using the West African Examination Council’s English subject test
