C yberbullying. What is Cyperbulling. " Cyberbullying " is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones.

What is Cyperbulling • "Cyberbullying" is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones. • It has to have a minor on both sides, or at least have been instigated by a minor against another minor. • (stopcyberbulling.com)

  3. Adult involvement • Once adults are involved it become cyber-harassment or cyberstalking. • Minor can start a cyberbullying campaign where adults could be lured into.

  4. Outcomes • Bully can become victim in an instant • Murder • Suicide • Embarrassment • Criminal Charge • Criminal Record • Internet bands • Legal suits within schools and home “The methods used are limited only by the child's imagination and access to technology”

  5. How It works • TWO TYPES • Direct Attack (direct messages sent to the child) • Cyberbullying by proxy (using others to help cyberbully the victim, either with or without the accomplice's knowledge)

  6. Direct Attacks • Instant Messaging • Stealing passwords • Websites • Pictures sending through web or phone • Internet Polling • Interactive games • Sending malicious codes • Sending porn or other junk email • Impersonating

  7. Cyberbullying by proxy Getting someone else to do your “ Dirty Work” "Warning" or "Notify Wars" are an example • don't know that they are being used by the cyberbully • MOST DANGEROUS – gets adults involved.

  8. Prevention • How can you stop it once it starts? • What is the school's role in this? • What is the parents' role in this?
