With the joint venture of the Petro Vietnam group and Vinatex they have created a spinning plant that annually can produce 2,500 tons of fiber. Vietnam has the leading technology in the industry to be a new leader in polyester production.

  3. Vietnam: History Socialist Republic of Vietnam It is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula located in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by China, Logos, Cambodia, and the South China Sea They became independent from Imperial China in 938 AD.   4. Polyester Polyester is a very versatile fiber and can used for an array of products, from clothing to home furnishings. Polyester is also a synthetically made fiber thus the production of it does not depend on natural fibers. Polyester is very durable, quick to dry, resistant to shrinking and stretching, wrinkle resistant, easily washed, and retains heat (pleats and being ironed). Polyester is also a low price point fiber.

Politics Over the past two decades, Vietnam has been one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies, averaging about 7 percent growth a year, and per capita income has risen to $1,200 in this nation of 86 million people. While the leadership has made it clear that it will not tolerate talk of multiparty democracy, it is “democratizing” its one-party structure with small changes toward a more participatory and pluralist system. These changes may include an increasing number of candidates in local elections or direct election of some party officials who have previously been appointed.

More orders are shifting to lower-wage economies such as Cambodia and Vietnam, where garment factories are mushrooming. Even Chinese firms are starting to outsource low-end clothes manufacturing to Vietnam The textile industry in Vietnam has become one of the fastest-growing in Asia, thanks in large part to the country's recent entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO). The nation historically has been strong in cut-and-sew operations, but it is now investing heavily in spinning and weaving. Moreover, the Vietnamese government is highly supportive of the textile and garment sector, and there are strong incentives to attract foreign investment.

  15. Growth in Imports/ Exports As a result of these reforms, exports expanded significantly, growing by as much as 20%-30% in some years. Exports accounted for about 70% of GDP in 2010. Imports have also grown rapidly, and Vietnam has maintained a structural trade deficit, reaching $12.4 billion in 2010. Vietnam's total external debt, amounting to 39% of GDP in 2009, was estimated at around $27.93 billion.
