  3. What is it? • “The MPI assesses the nature and intensity of poverty at the individual level, with poor people being those who are multiply deprived and the extent of their poverty being measured by the extent of their deprivations.”

  4. What does it consider? Education • Years of schooling • Deprived if less than five years of schooling • Child Enrollment • Deprived if not attending school in years 1-8 Health • Child morality • Deprived if any child has died in family • Nutrition • Deprived if any child is malnourished

  5. What does it consider? • Standard of living • Electricity • Drinking water (with in 30 minute of distance ) • Sanitation (toilet) • Flooring (condition of house) • Cooking fuel (use of sophisticated tools) • Assets (TV, refrigerator, etc.)
