State of Social Studies & Department Initiatives • DESE ~ No timetable to move forward with History and Social Science MCAS • Common Syllabi grades 6-11 • Common Syllabi for high school elective courses being developed this summer • Common writing assessments being developed for implementation next year • Increase in technology integration • Honors summer reading

  3. Authentic Learning Experiences Law Day Model UN Student Gov Day High school students will attend program at Plymouth District Court High School students participate in Model UN programs in Boston and New York Students will be competing at the State House in June Grade 3 students present performance in conjunction with Plymouth Antiquarian Society Students will be attending program at the State House Project Citizen Corn Planting Play

Student Opportunities • 9/11 Commemoration • Students participated in the VFW Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen Contests • Students created posters and wrote essays for the local Martin Luther King, Jr. contest sponsored by Plymouth No Place for Hate and the Interfaith Clergy Council • Grade Seven students took part in Geography Fair at Bridgewater State University • Students participated in NGS Geography Bee • Adopt An Artifact Project with Pilgrim Hall • Class of 2020 working on Letter Writing Project • Grade Plymouth Posters / Graphic Arts Students
