  1. Exploring Social Engineering: Techniques and Recognition

  2. Social engineering exploits human psychology rather than technical vulnerabilities to gain unauthorized access to information or systems. Recognizing and mitigating these tactics is essential for effective cybersecurity defense.

  3. 01 RECOGNITION PHISHING Phishing involves sending fraudulent emails or messages impersonating legitimate entities to deceive recipients into revealing sensitive information or clicking malicious links. Check for misspelled URLs, suspicious sender addresses, urgent language, and requests for sensitive information.

  4. 02 RECOGNITION PRETEXTING Pretexting involves creating a fabricated scenario or pretext to manipulate individuals into divulging confidential information. Be wary of unsolicited requests for personal or financial information, especially if the requester claims to be in a position of authority or urgency.

  5. 03 RECOGNITION BAITING Baiting involves enticing victims with promises of reward or gain to trick them into performing an action, such as downloading malware-infected files or clicking on malicious links. Exercise caution when encountering offers that seem too good to be true, especially from unknown sources or untrusted websites.

  6. 04 RECOGNITION TAILGATING Tailgating, also known as piggybacking, involves gaining unauthorized physical access to restricted areas by following authorized personnel. Challenge unfamiliar individuals attempting to gain access to restricted areas, and enforce strict access control measures such as ID checks and badge authentication.
