  4. Compression • Cross out unnecessary info; • Put parentheses around what you can condense; • Write simplified words and phrases over parentheses.

  5.   6. Sentence summary • Write a 1-sentence summary of each segment of the article, chapter, etc.; • Divide the paper into segments based on similar topics if it is not already divided for you; • Title each segment.
