Globally, production of the primary poultry products (meat and eggs) has been rising rapidly. From 1995 and 2005, The consumption and hence production, has increased globally chicken meat (53%), turkey meat (13%), duck meat (67%), goose meat (53%), chicken eggs (39%) and other eggs (27%).
FDA rgulations • Prohibition of antibiotic uses as growth promoters in broiler chicken diets has resulted in increased use of natural additives in broiler feeds over the current years. • Therefore, antibiotic growth promoters were minimized by consumer associations as well as by scientists, e.g. the use of most antibiotic growth promoters was banned by the European Union.
