ALL Sports 2019-2020 Belvidere High School BUC PRIDE • Athletic Eligibility/Tutorial • Pass 5 courses during previous semester • Summer School Courses/Correspondence Courses – all grade verifications must be turned in to the athletic office by Aug. 1st • Grades reported on Monday and IPR’s printed and shared • Eligibility checks will be done on TUESDAY • Must be passing 5 classes on a weekly basis • If a student is enrolled in 7 classes…(a study hall does NOT count as a class) and they are failing 1 or 2 classes, they will remain eligible while attending tutorials • 2 tutorials per failing class, per week (tutorials can be with the classroom teacher, a teacher in the dept. or tutoring lab) • If a student is failing 3 or more classes, the athlete is ineligible to participate and must attend 5 tutorials • Tutorials can be done only before or after school • Should be done in the SUBJECT AREA THAT THE STUDENT IS FAILING

ALL Sports 2019-2020 Belvidere High School BUC PRIDE • Trainer/IMPACT Testing/Health • Trainer • Athletico provides BHS with great service and qualified personnel • Please listen and trust the opinions of our athletic trainers • If you would like a second opinion, you are entitled to that • IMPACT Testing (freshman and new students) • All student/athletes will be required to complete the impact concussion test prior to issuance of an athletic permit • The test is a computerized test that sets a baseline. • Should an athlete receive a concussion, the athlete will need to exceed this baseline in order to be cleared to play. • Health • If you want to be a “well-oiled machine” you need to take care of your body • Nutrition/Sleep/Remove Substances from YOUR SYSTEM • Vaping and Juuling EPIDEMIC
ALL Sports 2019-2020 Belvidere High School BUC PRIDE • Code of Conduct (What’s right or wrong?) • Loss of Athletic Participation • Do not dress for physical education • Violation of School or Athletic Code of Conduct • Use or participate in illegal substances, weapons, vandalize, lie, cheat, attack, disrespectful • Students have the right to Due Process so they can respond to any violations • Violations are cumulative throughout the students career at BHS • Consequences of Possession/Use of Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drugs • 1STVIOLATION – 50% of the season, assessment and counseling if necessary • If present – 10% • 2ndVIOLATION – One calendar year from date of violation, assessment and counseling if necessary • If present – 20% • 3rdVIOLATION – Remainder of high school career • If present – one calendar year from date of violation • Out of School Suspensions • 1-3 Day OSS – 10% of the total number of games • 4 or more days OSS – A minimum suspension of 20% of the total number of games
ALL Sports 2019-2020 Belvidere High School BUC PRIDE • Registration via 8to18 • Registration • On-line at il.8to18.com/belviderehs • Follow online guidelines for registering your student (s) • Athletic Office will check for eligibility and issue an Athletic Permit if CLEARED FOR PARTICIPATION • Code of Conduct • When you register you are also signing the School and Athlete Code of Conduct • Need both signatures to finalize registration • The Code of Conduct can be found on the 8to18 and Belvidere High School websites • This document can also be printed from 8to18 during registration • Roster/Payment • Rosters will be set by the coaches as we approach competition • Once your son or daughter has been rostered in a sport, the fee is due via PushCoin • Athletic Fees • 1st sport $75, 2nd sport $75, 3rd sport $0
ALL Sports 2019-2020 Belvidere High School BUC PRIDE • Transportation • Sign-Out After Competition • All athletes are expected to ride the bus to and from sporting events • Students may ride home with a parent only if the parent signs the athlete out with the coach. • Parents do not let the students drive • Please do not put acoach in an awkward situation after a contest; coaches have been instructed to say NO • Failure to follow this policy could result in you being removed from the team • Pre-Competition Request and All Others • If a special situation arises please reach out to the Athletic Office • Under these circumstances you may need to have alternative transportation TO an event: the student must bring a signed Alternative Transportation Form from the parents to the Athletic Office beforehand and we will sign the form, make a copy, and allow you to ride to the game or contest with your parent(s)
ALL Sports 2019-2020 Belvidere High School BUC PRIDE • Hazing and Bullying • Hazing and Bullying • Absolutely no place for it at Belvidere High School ZERO TOLERANCE • Take BUC PRIDE in how you act and how you treat others • If a student or athlete feels they are being “ATTACKED” in a verbal, physical, or mental way than we have an issue • Started with football and spread throughout the whole high school • Staff changes, students disciplined, destroyed the continuity of the school

ALL Sports 2019-2020 Belvidere High School BUC PRIDE • Conflict Resolution • First Step When A Situation Arises • The athlete speaks with the coach • If communication is made with the Athletic Office the student or parent will be asked to speak with the coach • This is a life skill that will serve them beyond their time at BHS • Kids are so much stronger than we give them credit for; let them show their strength • The Conflict Is Not Resolved After Step One • The athlete and parent speaks with the coach • If communication is made with the Athletic Office the student and parent will be asked to speak with the coach • The Final Decision • A meeting is set up with the athlete, AD, parentand coach • This meeting will produce results that the Athletic Office feels are in the best interest of the Athletic Department and Belvidere High School • *No communication should be attempted until 24 hours have passed from the contest or event
