How magnets work • The atom itself has magnetic properties that are caused by the way the electrons move.
How magnets work • Groups of atoms move and align themselves so that their magnetic fields are all arranged in the same direction.
Remember that To become magnetized, ferromagnetic material is place in a strong magnetic field which causes the atoms of the material to shift so all the atoms are aligned in the same direction.
