  5. 1954: Geneva Accords--1954 • Vietnam divided when French left • North Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh & communist • South Vietnam - Ngo Dinh Diem & anti-communist Ho Chi Minh Divided at 17th parallel Ngo Dinh Diem
