An architecture company specialized in eco housing projects has asked you to develop an original graphic display
It should include a catchy phrase (slogan) “Just do it” • It should be possibly made of eco-friendly material or at least have a eco-friendly appearance. (you are representing an eco-conscious company). • It should be transportable. (Strong but lightweight). • It should be eye-catching. • It should look professional. • It should combine good graphic design with good product design.
The company prides itself for their sense of detail and original approach to living green without compromising to a high standard and healthy living.
The aim • is to make a presentation display combined with graphic design. • For example if you are promoting a product for soccer you would use elements from the sport. • Like a the octagonal shape of a soccer ball • or a soccer shoe, • or the green field with white stripes or a goal. • Or the net of a goal • and make this come together in a display. • when you are looking for balance • you could also be aware of thecoloursused in soccer. (green grass, white lines, club colours). You have to do this to reinforce the display and the graphic design.

Need to understand • Displays Because you are making one. Because it can tell you what you would like or you what you don’t like, it gives examples what is possible, it gives you the possibility to be even more original than your competition, with other words it can make you better than the rest.. • Target group It gives you understanding of your audience (who they are and what they like and what they want). Makes you make more focused.
Research (investigation)… • The unit question (use the unit Question as a starting point). • Explaining the problem (what does the unit question entitle? Deconstructing!) (NEED TO UNDERSTAND) • Pointing out the relevance (what makes this assignment meaningful refer to the AOI (Environments)? • The design brief. (a summary (but detailed enough) about what you have to make and for whom • Making a list of specifications for your product. (General information needed like pointed out in this hand-out). • The best way to test my product. • Describing the test in detail. • Make an extensive Bibliography. (use of footnotes is recommended!).
The lay-out of your investigation (required) • Unit question (write down the unit question) • Explaining the unit question(explain elaborately what YOU think needs to be researched) • Why is this assignment relevant? (Compare the assignment towards the unit question) • General research on the topic(s) (Architecture, design, advertising, target group, displays. Green housing). • The design brief (make your own design brief based upon the UQ) • My list of specifications (a list of demands towards your product). • Specific research based on the design brief. (research the topic you are going to work on). • The best way to test my product (describe as detailed as possible how you are going to test your product). • My bibliography (write down websites, books, etc and explain what you used of it).
