Introduction • Name of the Centre: PrabhuGoel Research Centre for Computer & Internet Security • Sponsored by Dr. PrabhuGoel (an IITK alumni) • Created in March 2003 • Basic Charter: Research and Training in Data Security • People • RajatMoona (Coordinator) • Navpreet Singh (Associate Head) • ManindraAgrawal • Arnab Bhattacharya • DheerajSanghi (currently on leave) • PrashantSrivastava • Satyam Sharma, AbhayKhoje and Salih KA

Objectives of the Centre • Vision: To become nodal R&D centre in the country for Computer & Internet Security • Increase security awareness through • Courses at the UG and PG level of IIT Kanpur • Short term training courses for industry and other agencies. • Workshops and conferences • Seminars • Interactions with peers • Invitations and short-term visits

Significant Achievements • Transcrypt (An Encryption File system) • Encrypting File System for enterprises • SCOSTA • Smart Card OS standard for the country. • E-Passport • Electronic passport with IITK technology launched in June 2008. • National ID Card • SCOSTA standard for the national ID (pilot covering 20L people done by ECIL/BEL and ITI along with IIT/NIC inputs)
