Zoo Keeper To be a zookeeper, you must give a special attention and care to each different species. Zoo keepers develop relationships with their animals and contribute in keeping their species alive and help them from becoming extinct.
Responsibilities: Feeding Maintaining Cleaning for the animals Diet preparation Behavioural observation Record keeping Exhibit maintenance Providing environmental enrichment for the animals in their care.
Motivation By containing a strong value about animals and desire to provide their best care to their animals are the motivation that a zoo keeper needs. According to Churchill et al, ‘For social cognitivists, motivation is often described as goal-directed behaviour that is closely linked to feelings of personal effectiveness...’ (2011, p. 116).
Learning Zookeeper need to learn how to train the animals to make caring for them easier. Some zookeeper can train an elephant to lift their feet so that a veterinarian can check them easier. Zookeepers require to learn about a broad group of animals, such as mammals, birds, reptiles and their needs.
Classroom environment The zoo needs: - To be tidy - Have an appropriate spaces for the animals - Includes food and water - Room to be at its right temperature - Appropriate equipments for animals to play with or climb on.
