Assignment • For your last assignment you need to explain the procedure for • What to do if there is a fire • How allergies are recorded and how do you maintain the safety of children with allergies • What happens if a child is taken ill • What happens if a child has an accident
You must explain the correct procedures AND explain how it will keep the children and staff safe. • How will you do this? • You are going to write a Health and Safety Policy for a pretend nursery that explains what to do in each situation. • You can use your own experience and real policies to help you
Recognising Illness • Children catch lots of infections and illnesses while they are at nursery. Common ones are: Chickenpox Rubella Measles Mumps Gastro-enteritis Asthma You can find the symptoms of each of these illnesses in the Bubbles Book
Other ways to recognise a poorly child • Skin tone – is the child pale? • Temperature – is the temperature raised? • Does the child have a rash, spots, blisters? • Breathlessness – Is the child struggling for breath. Could be asthma or an allergic reaction
