  3. Budgetary Impact of Retention • Per student increase = 32 credits X $309.50 + 60 credits X $338.25 = $30,199* • Based on in-state tuition • Note: it takes 3 students who stay for only their first year to equal the amount of funding received from 1 graduate.

Why is just changing admissions criteria alone is not enough? • Raising entrance criteria eliminates less qualified students, but • doesn’t attract better students. • If done in isolation, it impacts funding needed to run institution • and to acquire resources to provide a quality education. • May negatively impact other goals
