Chlamydia • This trachomatis bacterium is the most commonly reported sexually transmitted disease. • The bacteria may infect the urethra and rectum in both sexes and the cervix in women. • Chlamydia can even infect other parts of the body such as the throat, lungs, liver, and eyes. • If untreated, chlamydia can cause pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, and infertility.
