Note: use this tutorial to find any table (see our Demographics web page to find a list of relevant tables) except for Table 1 (detailed languages) or “Quick Facts”
Let’s say we want to know about LOTEs spoken in Los Angeles County, Alhambra, and Glendale, California
To start: go to the American Community Survey’s portal: • http://factfinder2.census.gov/faces/nav/jsf/pages/searchresults.xhtml?refresh=t
Type in B16001 (Languages Spoken at Home) or B5006 for (Place of Birth for the Foreign Born). Type in as many geographies as you want; press enter or “GO” after each one
Check the appropriate box(s) for the estimate(s) you want to see Important: if your geographies have fewer than 300,000 people, only the 5-year estimates will give results. If your target geographies have higher populations, try any estimate.
