Public Safety Preservation Act 1986 “Emergency Situation” means – (a) any explosion or fire; or (b) Any oil or chemical spill; or (c) any escape of gas, radioactive material or flammable or combustible liquids; or (d) Any accident involving an aircraft, or a train, vessel or vehicle; or (e) Any incident involving a bomb or other explosive device or a firearm or other weapon; or (f) Any other incident
Disaster Management Act 2003s.13 Meaning of Disaster • A disaster is a serious disruption in a community, caused by the impact of an event, that requires a significant coordinated response by the State and other entities to help the community recover from the disruption. • In this section – serious disruption means - • Loss of human life, or illness or injury to humans; or • Widespread or severe property loss or damage; or • Widespread or severe damage to the environment.
