Course Description • Focuses on managing information and its resources as a corporate strategic asset. • Help develop the leadership and skills required to manage information and IT by learning to efficiently and effectively plan, organize, operate and control information resources and the activities associated with acquiring, storing, processing, and distributing information to meet the information needs of users.
Objectives • Define the basic concepts of information and communication resources • Identify their strategic importance in contemporary business organizations; • Analyze the overall information needs of an organization and identify the role of IT and systems in satisfying them;
Objectives • Describe the underlying technologies for computer-based information systems and communications and their future trends and impacts; • Identify the issues of planning, organizing, and controlling information and communication resources and evaluate the different managerial approaches and techniques needed in order to effectively deal with such issues;
Objectives • Be aware of the social and ethical implications of information production, storage, and use in organizations; • Effectively identify, search, analyze, and present oral and written information pertinent to information and communication resources management issues.
In Summary…. The objective is to…. enhance your knowledge of the potential benefits, dangers, and limitations of IT in the new economy, and to equip you with basic concepts you may apply to leverage the benefits, avoid the dangers, and surmount the limitations.
