  2. Welcome toSt. Peter! In today’s gospel Jesus reveals himself as our Savior and God’s Son by the powerful and loving way he called sinful men to follow him as his disciples. With that same love and power Jesus has called us to follow him by faith. Jesus also continues to call some to follow him and serve in the public (or representative) ministry of the gospel. As we cherish these gospel servants may we also pray to our Lord to provide future pastors and teachers as well.

  6. Prayer before Worship Come follow me, the Savior spoke, All in my way abiding. Deny yourselves; the world forsake; Obey my call and guiding. Oh, bear the cross, whate’er betide; Take my example for your guide. Then let us follow Christ our Lord And take the cross appointed And, firmly clinging to his Word, In suff’ring be undaunted. For those who bear the battle’s strain The crown of heav’nly life obtain. Amen
