Issue • Focus on Standard Mail with: • Requested IHD (In-Home Date); and • Arrives at DDU past IHD or Event Date • Need for “Standardized” verbiage, format, placement • Relative to mailer requested IHD • Instructions for disposition if received past IHD or Event Date
Desired Results • Mailers will specify IHD on mailpiece • In consistent location • Using standard verbiage (clear and concise) • Along with disposition instructions
Desired Results • USPS will prepare communications plan to • Disseminate instructions • Distribute training materials to mailers and USPS • Facilitate proper mail preparation • Ensure adherence to operating procedures

Mailer’s Request for Withdrawal or Disposal • Currently two options (DMM D030.2.2) • Option 1 • Attach facing slip to each package of mail with contact info • Date after which mail is not to be delivered • Authorizes withdrawal, but not disposal
Mailer’s Request for Withdrawal or Disposal • Currently two options (DMM D030.2.2) • Option 2 • Mailer sends written request to Postmaster of destinating office • Letter sent before mail entry; provides specifics and detailed description of mail • Authorizes Withdrawal and Disposal if received after specific date
This establishes last day mailer authorizes for delivery and authorizes withdrawal & disposal after specified date. AFTER 8/20 REFER TO PAGE ___ REQUESTED IN HOME 8/12-14 Mailer’s Request for Withdrawal or Disposal • Proposed Option 3 (Modified Option 2)
