  3. Option Availability

  4. Option Eligibility (Sept 2014) • To be eligible to be placed in an option that starts Sept 2014 you must … • be enrolled in the full-time CST Diploma program, AND • have successfully completed all level one and two CST courses (ie: all of first year) before Aug 1, 2014 • No failures • No withdrawals Note: PTS equivalent courses are accepted, as long as they are complete by Aug 1, 2014

  5. Placement Priority Options are filled, highest GPA first, in the following order 1. Coop students who are returning after their 8 month term, AND CST Level 2 students who successfully complete all the year 1 CST courses by end of their second term • These would be the students who take and pass all courses without dropping any … ie … normal program path • CST students who were eligible to select an option in Jan 2013 but who decided to “Wait for Sept”, AND CST students who complete all the requirements for level 3 in more than 2 terms • These are typically students who drop or fail a level 1 or 2 course and make it up in later terms and/or via PTS

  6. Placement Priority (2) 3. Students who are not currently enrolled in CST, but wish to start or restart their studies • Any student who is not enrolled in the day school CST program but wishes to enter at level 3, including • Direct entry from a University or other program • Students who stopped attending CST and wish to restart • Students who received M1 letters and who have successfully completed at least two courses via PTS • Note that students in this category need to apply for readmission to CST via BCIT Advanced Placement, and will only be admitted if there is an available seat in a level 3 option 4. Students who were previously in an option but want to change • Withdrew from or failed their previous option • do not select option again – go to course by course registration

  7. How to State Your Option Preference • You indicate your preferred options (top 4 choices) online through the CST Commons website (share.cas.bcit.ca) • Speed is not important (it is not a race) Opens: Friday May 2, 2014 Closes: Friday May 23, 2014 (last day of classes) • An email containing more detailed instructions will be sent to all level 2, coop, and undeclared level 3 students as soon as the option selection site is open. • Everyone who is eligible MUST participate • If you do not participate in the option selection process, you will be not be placed in an option, and you may lose your seat.

  8. What if you prefer a January option? • You may choose to wait and select a January option, however, there are associated risks and costs • Students who started January 2014 have priority over you for the January options • You may not get the option you want anyway • It will take 2.5 years to complete the Diploma • You have little margin for making up failed courses as you must complete the program in 3 years

  9. Waiting for Jan (more info) • If you choose to wait for a January option you still need to participate in option selection now • You will have a choice (on the option select form) that says • “Wait for January” • If you choose this I will keep your name on a list and I will contact you to select an option in December 2014 • If you wish to enroll in day school courses in September you can do so via course by course registration, as long as there is space in the course you want

  10. What about ineligible students? • You are not eligible if you have not completed all of CST levels 1 and 2. • You need to wait until you have made up all your level one and two courses, and then you will participate in option selection. • You can register for level 3 courses for which you have the pre-requisites (but not option courses and not ISSP project course), via course by course registration • Students who have received M1, M2, or M2A letters cannot register in full-time day school courses

  11. The end!
