  1. “Be the Power of One”Building Character for Success “Honestly Building Your Web” Lesson 6.5 Created By: BYU-Idaho Students and Pam Gunter

  2. Preparation • Materials Needed: • One piece of 8”x10” piece of paper for each group. • Classroom Setup: • Break into groups of approximately 5 students.

  3. Challenge for the Week – Follow Up How did everyone do with changing a weakness into a strength last week? Does anyone want to share their accomplishment?

  4. The Activity • Have each group define what integrity/honesty means to them and have them write their answers on the paper. • After 2-3 minutes, have each group share one of their ideas. • Share the following scenario and have them each discuss what they would do: • You are walking down the hall at school and see the star quarterback bullying another student. The state championships are this weekend and you know if you report it he won’t be able to play. Should you report it, or not? Is it your responsibility to report it? What would you do?

  5. The Object of the Lesson Points instructor needs to bring out: • Being honest is making the right choice all of the time, no matter who you are with. • Honesty can be difficult sometimes; especially when you are worried about others. But doing the right thing will build trust within the web. • If everyone showed integrity, there would be no stealing, no lying, no cheating, no bullying, and our school would be a better place to be.

  6. Challenge for the Week Challenge yourself to go for an entire week being honest in all you say and in all of your actions. If you slip up, be courageous and admit you were dishonest and keep going. Practice makes perfect, even when you are working on being honest!
