    3. Ternion History Ternion was founded to satisfy the growing requirement for simulation Founded in April of 1989 in Huntsville, Alabama Software Products Division: developers of FLAMES® Engineering Services Division: contract developers of FLAMES-based simulations

    4. Some of Ternion’s Customers Ternion’s products and services support simulations that are used around the world United States Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps and NATO International Governments, including Canada, Finland, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, Germany, Republic of China (Taiwan), Republic of Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirate, and the United Kingdom Numerous U.S. and foreign commercial organizations

    5. FLAMES Overview

    6. Two Primary FLAMES Products The FLAMES product line is grouped into two primary products

    7. FLAMES Main Applications FLAMES includes customizable applications that address all aspects of scenario processing

    8. FLAMES Built-In Features Distributed Simulation – Supports execution in both DIS exercises and HLA federations Interactive Simulation – Provides high-performance, interactive interfaces for simulators and external systems High-Fidelity Terrain – Models large areas and detailed urban environments Scenario Visualization – Displays scenario activity in 2D and high-fidelity 3D, including satellite imagery Analytical Simulation – Provides extensive support for parametric trade studies and Monte Carlo analysis

    9. More Built-In Features Multi-threaded Execution – Improves performance of scenario execution on multiple-processor computers Checkpoint/Restart – Allows scenario execution to restart from an execution checkpoint file Sensor Coverage – Allows sensor coverage diagrams to be computed and displayed Digital Terrain – Allows direct use of Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED®) for processing and display

    10. The Runtime Suite CD The FREE FLAMES Runtime Suite CD includes: Full-featured, runtime versions of the main FLAMES applications Online activation software FLAMES overview and tutorial videos Ready-to-use models of many military systems Demonstration and tutorial scenarios

    11. Two Primary FLAMES Products The FLAMES product line is grouped into two primary products

    12. The FLAMES Approach FLAMES is a framework for composable, object-oriented, component-based simulations

    13. Types of FLAMES-based simulations The same framework has been used to support nearly every simulation requirement

    14. Announcing… Version 9.0!

    15. The “Framework Challenge” It’s hard to make a true framework easy to use

    16. Master Improvement Plan Version 9.0 achieves the final milestone in a multi-year FLAMES improvement plan

    17. Creating Players Patterns allow any type of player to be created with just a few clicks of the mouse Each pattern defines a type of player A “wizard” interface lists all player types The wizard prompts for each required input Players and inputs are fully described No programming required

    18. Master Improvement Plan Version 9.0 achieves the final milestone in a multi-year FLAMES improvement plan

    19. Editing Players The Command Editor makes it simple to edit even the most complex players “Adapts” to the commands that can be performed by the player Each command and its inputs are fully described Many tools for quickly specifiying input values All commands are “model-defined” GUI requires no programming

    20. Master Improvement Plan Version 9.0 achieves the final milestone in a multi-year FLAMES improvement plan

    21. New Unit Controller You can now monitor and control any player DURING scenario execution

    22. Monitor Status

    23. Initiate Individual Commands

    24. View or Replace All Commands

    25. Distributed SAF Capability The new Unit Controller provides distributed, semi-automated forces (SAF) capability

    26. Microsoft Windows Support FLAMES supports the latest Windows operating systems Windows 7 Checkpoint/Restart now supported in Windows Vista and Windows 7 New Windows 64-bit Version! (true 64-bit address space)

    27. New Road Network The new road network service supports automated path finding

    28. More FLAMES Enhancements Version 9.0 includes many other enhancements Enhanced Unit creation Improved status windows Scenario execution tool buttons Track Unit in 2D view Unit translation Automatic window restore Open recent scenario menu Open example scenario menu Improved 3D scene rendering

    29. Development Suite Enhancements Version 9.0 includes many new features for developers More C++ bundled models Full API for command editing Command editing from client applications Window viewer for GUI creation Over 45 new functions

    30. Bundled Model Enhancements Several bundled models have been added or enhanced Ground vehicle models Ship models TBM model
