The Twelve Apostles * Called “Labbaeus” in Matthew 10:3 (KJV)
Matthew 10:2-4 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus -- the same, without doubt, as "Judas the brother of James," mentioned in both the lists of Luke (Lu 6:16) and Acts (Ac 1:13). • A Commentary: Critical, Experimental, and Practical on the Old and New Testaments. • Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddeus. These two words have the same signification in Hebrew. Luke calls him Judas, by a slight change from the name Thaddaeus. Such changes are common in all writings. • Notes on the New Testament Explanatory and Practical.
