  2. What is the Washington Internship? • 7 weeks in US Congress working in a congressional office • Significant academic credit • Major research report, oral presentation

  3. Who Is Eligible? • Any student who has completed: • POLS 2013A/B OR POLS 2127 • At least a credit grade

  5. How Do I Apply? • Online application form (http://anip.anu.edu.au/internships/washington/apply) plus • 500 word statement • Transcript • CV • 3 referee reports (at least 2 academic) • S1-14 DEADLINE: Friday AUGUST 4 by 1pm

  6. Timelines for S1-15 • Candidates selected for interview: Aug 8 • Interviews: Aug 14-15 • Successful candidates offers: Aug 18 • Departure: Jan 1, 2015 • Return: Feb 14, 2015

  7. What Does it Cost? (a rough guide) • Visa Application: $1100 • Housing: Covered by ANU • Flight: $3200 • Food and incidentals: $3200 • Insurance: covered by ANU • Apply for OS-Help: Up to $6,250 • Loan added to HECS debt

  8. What Will I Do? • In Washington: • 7 weeks (Jan 1 – Feb 14 ) • Work in Congress/Committee as a staffer • When Back in Canberra Semester 1: • Major research report • 12 Units: 8000 words on American politics • Oral presentation of findings • 40 minutes
