Comparing • When comparing the objects or animals or people you have to use the following words with an adjective or an noun or and adverb… adjective+ER THAN MORE +adjective THAN SEMP
Small adjectives = Adjective+ER THAN • If the adjetive or adverb has just one syllabus, the comparative form used is –ER then add THAN. Example. Carlos is tallerthan Jose. (tall) Maria is thinner than Fabiola. (thin) Monterrey is bigger than Allende. (big) The elephant is heavierthan the hippo. (heavy) SEMP
Some small adjective need to repeat the last consonant for not changing their pronounciation. And the ones which end with “Y” need to use “i”. Example: big = bigger heavy = heavier hot = hotter dry = drier • NOTE 1: The letter w, x, and y do not get a double. • NOTE 2: The following adjectives are the exceptions from the rule. Bigger adjectives =MORE+Adjective+THAN • If the adjetive or adverb has two or more syllabus, the comparative form used is MORE + adjective + THAN. Example. Carlos is more handsomethan Jose.
