  4. 2011 Activities and Achievements:Contributions to and Interactions with GEO • 2009-2011 GEO Work Plan • Nov 2011 GEO Plenary and Ministerial support • Dec 2011 coordination meetings and follow-up • Dec - Feb internal CEOS Actions consultation and development with CEOS Action POCs • Conducted Feb 2011 CEOS-GEO Actions Workshop and follow-on • Great support from CEOS Actions Leads • Good wrap-up of actions at September CEOS SIT Workshop • Supported migration to on-lineCEOS Actions Tracker and monitored actions progress • Routine interactions with CEOS and GEO experts

  5. 2011 Activities and Achievements:Contributions to and Interactions with GEO • GEO 2012-2015 Work Plan • Coordinated CEOS-wide review and consolidated input on draft GEO WP V.0 and V.1 (May and August 2011) • Coordinated CEOS role in GEO WP Symposium (May 2011) • Plenary-level input and remarks • Expert staff involvement in breakout sessions • Confirmed CEOS Agencies’ leadership for 2012-15 GEO Tasks/Components under GEO WP V.2 • Draft CEOS Report to GEO-VIII Plenary • Related actions/decisions requested at CEOS Plenary • Confirm CEOS approach and level of support to GEO, as specified in GEO WP V.2 • Support CEOS Agency staff involvement in WP implementation (and expected evolution)

  7. 2011 Activities and Achievements:Internal CEOS Activities • Support to CEOS Chair Team and SIT Chair Team • Monthly CEOS SEC participation and action support • Liaison to CEOS WG Chairs and participation in CEOS WG meetings and telecons • Excellent coordination with CEOS SEO • Emerging initiatives liaison and advice • Virtual Constellations liaison and advice • Liaison and support to SBA Coordinators • Maintain CEOS Events Calendar and help coordinate CEOS representation at key meetings (including occasional D/CEO participation)

Outline of Plans for 2012 • Continuity of effort across all major lines of activity (external and internal) • Support enhanced strategic focus of key CEOS leadership meetings and related long-term priorities • Maintain strong CEOS support to GEO under its new Work Plan • Support implementation of priority CEOS Self-Study recommendations (as agreed by CEOS leadership) • Maintain insight into key CEOS community needs and priorities, and assist as time/capacities allow

Observations on Our Work in 2011 • Continued complex and time-intensive internal and external coordination • GEO Work Plan and its actions • Interactions among numerous internal and external individuals/groups • Occasional difficulties in receiving needed information • External meetings schedule and adequate CEOS representation remain a challenge • Much heavier workload than even first anticipated • Growing overall workload for CEOS: Existing and new activities • Key time of transition with GEO WP and organization, and all its attendant outreach/coordination • Major (and very worthwhile) effort in supporting CEOS Self-Study • “Accretion of Duties” as dedicated CEOS representatives • Strategic, tactical, and administrative • We’re very glad there are two of us! It is a pleasure working with so many dedicated and professional colleagues in CEOS. Thank you for all your time, expertise, and leadership!
