Israel is in a time of transition (King David to King Solomon). -They GAVE willingly, EVEN in a time of transition because they were MISSION focused; NOT MAN focused. *(NRS) MISSION MINDED PEOPLE GIVE REGARDLESS OF WHO IS IN LEADERSHIP! MISSION A N

(2.)They were mission focused because David (THEIR LEADER) was mission focused. -David wanted to build God’s Temple but was rejected by God! -VS.2 DAVID DID ALL HE COULD TO BUILD THE TEMPLE EVEN THOUGH IT TOOK PLACE UNDER SOLOMON’S ADMINISTRATION! *David was so mission focused that he played his part; EVEN though he DID NOT get the shine. *God wants NRS to be so mission focused that we do our part even if we don’t get the recognition. (3.)VS.3 At the time of giving, King David gave of his own personal treasure; NOT just the general treasure of Israel. -David didn’t just have a great idea to build the temple. -He put his money where his mouth was and financed his own idea. *Sometimes, people with the brightest ideas in church won’t give one dime for the financing of their own idea. *WE MUST BE WILLING TO DO OUR PART FOR THE ADVANCING OF GOD’S KINGDOM! (4.)VS. 2-5A David publicly announced what he gave to his leaders and the people. -He was not trying to lift himself up in pride. -THIS WAS AN ACT OF HUMILITY TO HIS LEADERS LETTING THEM KNOW THAT HE WOULDN’T ASK THEM TO DO ANYTHING THAT HE WAS NOT WILLING TO DO HIMSELF! *We cannot lead where we are not willing to go. *LEADERS MUST LEAD BY EXAMPLE. (5.)VS. 6-8 Because David led by example, the leaders gave after David gave. -Giving must flow from the top down. -Sometimes PEOPLE NEED TO SEE obedient leadership. *People don’t do what leaders tell them to do; THEY DO WHAT THEY SEE LEADERS DO! *Follow the Leader Analogy: If the leader is following God, the church should follow the leader as he follows Christ! (6.)VS. 9 The people rejoiced because they offered willingly with a PERFECT HEART. -What about these people made them rejoice in their giving when others cringe at the thought of giving? -WE CAN GIVE WITH JOY WHEN OUR HEARTS ARE PERFECT. *IT’S SHOUTING TIME! *I‘m not shouting because I’m perfect. *I SHOUT BECAUSE MY HEART IS WITH GOD!
