Habides: current status Habitats Committee, October 2009
Reminder: what is Habides? • A standardised derogation reporting format for all Member States (XML Schema) • A portable tool for decentralised reporting • for regional derogation officers on the field • developed in MS Access • An online based system for officially submitting data (Reportnet CDR) • for nationally designated data coordinators • web-forms to create and edit derogations • uploading data received from regional derogation officers
Habides data flow 1 • Decentralised derogation reporters National data coordinator Reportnet CDR + letter from Perm Rep
Alternative data flow • Data is managed on a national level (no use of the Portable Tool) and exported to the Habides XML Format and uploaded on Reportnet CDR
Possible improvements • Improvements based on user feedback from Member States • improvements on user interfaces • completing items on lists for “Permitted Methods”, “Permitted Activities” and “Reasons for Granting Licence” • feedback expected by end January 2010 • A platform-independent implementation of the Portable Tool (Java). • MS Access problems: incompatibility between different versions; user settings can affect behaviour
