  7. RE’KRE-AT NTU • …………Stands for Recreate at NTU YOU HAVE A GREAT IDEA? WE LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! ! The objective of “RE’KRE-AT” is to offer opportunities for our students to participate actively in sports and recreational activities according to their interest and ability; and to instill in our students the importance and appreciation o fhealth and fitness “RE’KRE-AT” hoped to go beyond program providence for the students. It is also aimed at helping students learn some lifelong practical sports skills A Platform for clubs / interest groups to organise courses and competitions for the general student population. Clubs / interest groups can seek financial support from S & R Ctr to make the course more affordable for students.

RE’KRE-AT NTU Learn to Play / Beginners Course Archery, Bowling, Tennis, Squash, Inline Skating , Golf , Windsurfing Social Leagues/Novice Tournaments Soccer, Frisbee, Floorball Fitness Programmes Aerobics, Aquaerobics, Hip Hop, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Gentle Yoga, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Salsa Dance, Taichi, Clinics Weight training, Run/Walk , Nutrition, etc

  9. SPONSORSHIP / FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE • Within the University: • S & R Ctr (Sports Promotion) - Clubs submit request to / consult your respective Advisors & follow up on outcome of application • SAO (Student Activities Grant)

STUDENT ACTIVITIES GRANT (SAO) Sports Club/ Sub-Clubs/ SocietiesPrepare request letter/email with proposal to Mrs Seah Wai Choo, Divisional Director (SAO) Forward to respective advisors (S & R Ctr) for support & recommendation of grant Respective Advisors (S & R Ctr)Forward documents with their support /recommendation toMrs Seah (SAO) for her approval Mrs Seah (SAO)Approves and returns documents to S & R Centre with grant support Respective Advisors (S & R Ctr)Prepare cover letter to FIN to effect transfer of grant (see template)

SPONSORSHIP / FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE • External organizations: • Sport Partnership & Promotion Programme (SPPP from SSC) • National Youth Council • Fill up prescribed form & mail to NYC • Social Development Unit NOTE Do not ask for financial assistance from Singapore Pools. However, request for donation in kind (towels, etc) is possible.

  12. SPPP(Sports Partnership Promotion Programme) • Initiative by the Singapore Sports Council • generate more sporting opportunities • events or programmes that are open for public participation • Examples: • National Vertical Marathon • NIE Biathlon

SPPP… • For existing events • submit proposals to ‘NTU Sports and Recreation Centre, Attn: Ms Louise Khng’ • For new events: • Fill up prescribed form from http://www.ntu.edu.sg/SAO/Sports/Athletes+Corner/sppp.htm • submit form, proposal and obtain endorsement letter (from your advisor @ S & R Ctr)

  15. BOOKING OF FACILITIES & LOAN OF LOGISTICS • Applications at S & R Centre – Check availability at General Office; Consult advisor or see Mr Lim directly for regular bookings • Applications at Other Offices( eg Nanyang House, SAO, Halls, CED, OFPM) You need to have endorsement from your advisor (S & R Centre) before proceeding with your submission or approval will not be given! • Handle all loaned equipment with care • Avoid last-minute application to avoid disappointment!

  16. MANAGING RISKS (always consult your advisors) • All safety parameters must be looked into (eg, crowd control, safety equipment, emergency vehicle, etc) • Establish Emergency SOPs: • Whom to contact, where & how to get help • Keep advisor informed • For overseas trips, make available a list of members’ particulars plus next-of-kin contacts for your advisor • Indemnity Form / Parental-Release Form • Purchase of Insurance • Public Liability • Protection for participants (especially for high-risk events)

  17. EFFECTIVE CHANGEOVER • Your responsibility does not end when the new committee has been set up. Proper passing down of relevant, important information is very important. • To facilitate planning, try to establish recurring events and plan early (before the new AY). Key personnel should be elected before the 2nd Sem Exams.

  18. FINAL ADVICE…….. • Be METICULOUS in your admin / planning work and submission • Always aim to DO It Well the 1st time to avoid having to RE DO • Work closely with your advisor & ex-officio • NOT Sure – ASK, LEARN • ENJOY what you do! THANK YOU
