Squad In the “O” • Use H&A signals • Phases of offensive combat • Control • Moving and Halted • Noise discipline, dispersion, security, and rate of movement
3 Phases of Offensive Combat • Preparatory • Conduct • Exploitation
Preparatory • Begins in the assembly area • Starts upon receiving the warning order -situation -mission -tasks • Ends when crossing the line of departure
Conduct Phase • Begins with the crossing of the line of departure or when fired upon. • Ends when the unit has assaulted through the objective and has consolidated its position. • Crossing the line of departure signifies a unit leaving and area of supporting friendly small arms fire.
Exploitation Phase • Begins upon consolidation past the objective. • Pursue by fire • Continuation of the attack -This is mission dependant.
Tactical Control Measures • Assembly area: • Located out of range from enemy small arms fire. • Draw ammo, prep weapons and equipment, issue order, rest, eat.
Tactical Control Measures Attack Position: • Last covered and concealed position prior to LOD. • Last pos. to make final prep. before committing to the attack. (if needed) • Move into attack formation.
Tactical Control Measures • Line of Departure: • Signifies the units commitment to the attack. • Should be an identifiable object. • Leaving area of friendly small arm support.
Tactical Control Measures • Assault Position: • Last covered and concealed position prior to launching the assault. • Insert fresh magazine if needed, fix bayonets.
Tactical Control Measures • Limit of Advance: • Pre-determined point the assault unit will not cross. • Push past objective, set up squad 180, conduct ammmo casualty report. • Prepare for enemy counter attack!
Contact! • Initiated by instructors • Establish fire superiority • Switch to verbal automatically • Call out ADDRAC
ADDRAC • Alert: Alert all members of the unit to be ready to receive further instructions. • Direction: Orient the unit to the location of the enemy. • Description: Give the unit a brief and accurate description of the target. • Range: Give the unit information needed to adjust point of aim. • (Target) Assignment: Tell the unit who is to fire on which target. • (Fire) Control: Give the unit the command to commence firing. Return fire and gain fire superiority.

Ammo/Casualty Report “GOOD MORNING, SGT INSTRUCTOR! CANDIDATE SMITH REPORTS OBJECTIVE ALL SECURE. THERE ARE NO CASUALTIES, NO POW’S, AND APPROXIMATELY 10 ROUNDS PER CANDIDATE.”
